Evgeny Izotov is one of the brightest young representatives of the St. Petersburg piano school. He was born in 1979 into a family of musicians.
His first Grand-Prix Evgeny won at the age of 15. Then other winnings followed, among which the 1st prize and the special prize of the International competition of art high schools in Takasaki (Japan), the 1st prize of the International piano Academy competition founded by Theo Lieven Foundation (Como, Italy), the 2nd prize of the George Enescu International competition (Bucharest, Romania), the highest awards in Cernancelhe (Portugal) and “Mee sur Seine” (France).
Since his student years, the pianist has been touring in Russia, Europe, Japan, South Korea, Brazil. His name can be seen on posters in the best halls of St. Petersburg, Wigmore hall (London), Festspielhaus (Baden-Baden), City-hall (Hong Kong), Palais des congrès Le Corum (Montpellier), Cortot hall and theatre des Bouffes du Nord (Paris), the castle Nymphenburg (Munich), Casals hall (Tokyo), Busan Art-center (South Korea), etc.
Evgeny Izotov participated in numerous music festivals, among which Lucern Festival, Harrogate in England, Busoni in Bolzano, Menuhin Festival (Gstaad, Switzerland), MITO festival in Italy, Radio France in Montpellier, etc.
He performed with the orchestras of the Hermitage theatre and the St. Petersburg Academic Capella, the Academic Symphony orchestra of the St. Petersburg philharmonic, the Petrozavodsk Philharmonic orchestra, the orchestra of the festival in Curitiba (Brazil), the Philharmonic orchestra of Busan (South Korea), played under the direction of such conductors as Jean Claude Casadesus, Hubert Soudant, Moshe Atzmon, Avi Ostrovsky, Dorian Wilson, Robert Trevino, Carlo Palecci, Emile Simon.
For many years Eugene has been closely working with the Chopin society in Saint Petersburg. He is invited to Chopin festivals, “The Days of Polish culture in Karelia” (2005, 2008). In 2008 he recorded Chopin’s preludes for the jubilee CD, dedicated to the 200th anniversary since the birth of the composer.
In September 2013 he gave a solo concert in the framework of the G 20 summit in St. Petersburg.
In his performing activity the artist pays great attention to chamber music. As a part of Piter’s Trio with Vladislav Pesin (violin) and Taras Trepel (cello), Evgeny has won numerous prizes of international competitions of chamber music.
He successfully collaborates with musicians Andrey Dogadin, Andrey Baranov (violin), Leonid Gorokhov (cello), Dmitry Yeremin (cello), the quartet Atrium, the Shimanovsky quartet.
At the present time Evgeny Izotov regularly performs in a Duo with Valery Sokolov (violin).
Evgeny Izotov was educated at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, he got the post-graduate degree there and graduated with honors from postgraduate studies at the Ecole Normal de Music in Paris (Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris), received the diploma superior de Concertist (Diplom Superieur de Concertiste). His teachers were Professor Nina Seregina, Elena Semishina, Marian Rybicki. Attending master classes, he worked with Dmitry Bashkirov, William Nabore, K. H. Kemmerling, Lazar Berman.
The pianist successfully combines an intense concert activity with teaching. Since 2004, he has been teaching chamber music at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and since 2008 he has been the Guest Professor of piano at the University of Silla in Busan, South Korea.
Evgeny Izotov’s concerts were broadcasted on TV channels Mezzo, MBC in South Korea, on Radio France, Radio Swiss Classique, BBC Radio and Radio Russia-Petersburg.
